Eternal Love

This was written as I was thinking of my folks who have both passed away...

Eternal Love...
you gave me moons without tears
and unconditional love without fear
you were my partner, lover, and friend
through the good, the bad, all the way to the end

until we meet again my love she softly whispered
not knowing it would be so soon
their fifty year love affair
like the stars dancing around the moon

she leaned over to give him her final kiss
while her mind was flooded with
memories of true bliss
then they began to close the coffin lid
and as stoic as she was, she began to sob like a kid

then 2 months later there appeared a vibrant rainbow
visible from only her room
she knew it was him showing her the way home
and so she took her last breath
and she too did go

together again they are now the brightest of the stars
watching over and guiding those of us left behind
knowing they are thought of
lovingly, frequently, and are often on our minds
